Exhibition StatementOn April 19, 2025, Vleeshal presented Stage Left, a one-day performance program curated by Roos Gortzak to mark the end of her 10-year directorship. Featuring works by Eglė Budvytytė, Jae Pil Eun, Rory Pilgrim & Robyn Haddon, and Zahar Bondar, the event reflected the artistic relationships and curatorial vision Gortzak fostered over the past decade. The performances explored themes of embodiment, ritual, collectivity, and care—core to Vleeshal's programming under her leadership. Each contribution engaged the space uniquely: from shamanistic rhythms and participatory incantations to musical retrospectives and a choreographed farewell. The program served as both a culmination and a transition, closing one chapter of Vleeshal's history while offering a glimpse into its next.
